Foxit, no thanks
Ok, by now most people should know not to use Adobe Reader. First of all it has many security issues and secondly, Adobe seems hardly interested in fixing them in time. But what annoys me, is that most sites only provide Foxit Reader as a proper alternative.
I don’t want my programs to show ads, not even an add to urge me to by the pro version. This is also what Foxit does, and I don’t want that.
For those that also don’t want those adds, a few more (windows) alternatives:
- Sumatra PDF
Open source and very small, but also very basic. - Sorax Reader
Nice looking, although I don’t want such programs to use skins, just use the O/S looks. - STDU Viewer
My favorite at the moment. It can view more then just PDF. What I like most about it, is the search dialog showing all found entries in the sidebar, not having to use find next/previous all the time.
You can also take a look at PDFreaders.org for more (non-windows) alternatives.
